It would be taking a walk with the facts to blame Jules' death on the rainy conditions.

I am fine with cancelling a race due to bad conditions. What is absolutely a farce and pure hypocrisy is then to ignore that exact same logic pure for money. "We can't risk drivers, unless there is money on the line."

Utterly shameful, and in my eyes worse than USA 2005.
Agreed. That was my entire point when I made my first point about not watching F1 anymore.

To hell with the points. Who cares.

They put the drivers out for 2 laps in dangerous conditions just to fulfill financial obligations.

I hope this is true and they can be sued. Hopefully resulting in refund or free tickets for the fans.. financial responsibility should be with FIA/F1 not with the track. Also, embarrassing that Masi has no clarity on rules either to respond to couple of teams’ questions.

A morning shooting, a few beers with the boys, a very nice Sunday lunch with SWMBO and friends.

So glad I didn't waste my Sunday waiting for the race that wasn't.

F1 really needs to work harder...
You missed ALL the good stuff, it will not be re-shown
Half points after 2 laps is crap. That's just a give away.

I agree with Hamilton that the fans on circuit should be reimbursed.
I'd be OK with points after 2 laps if it was 2 laps of actual racing...

There needs to be a clear procedure for this eventuality, and it can’t involve packing up with 5 hours of daylight left…

Well they can scrap the three hour rule seen as it can be overruled very simply if need be so what’s the point of it?

Fair enough for attempting to run the race first time round. They had to try it.

There needs to be some sort of inquest into the decision making process for the second time the cars left the pits. They need to explain why, with no break in the weather coming at all, they took the cars out, did the minimum required to label it a ‘race’ and no more before immediately abandoning it.

Something smells worse than Mama Perez’s fish tacos.

Wow. Just wow. This is utterly disgusting.

I am fully expecting law suits in this. This is basically FIA saying "screw our own rules".

Having been to cricket matches, I'm a bit twitchy. I've spent an entire day in the rain and themn they did 10 overs at the end of the day in the same conditions just so they didn't have to refund.

No points should be rewarded for this farce

I interpret the rules in the same way as quoted by Medland. Essentially, the 2 rules are separate - 6.5 determines whether points should be awarded and 42.13 determines the classification

The fact that it’s not clear cut, and in fact, is sort of paradoxical, means that teams that lost out today are going to challenge this determination.

I now think Indy 2005 is completely off the hook compared to today.

At least they ran a race in 2005, despite it being a farce.

They also gave free race day tickets for 2006 for people who were at that race.

Lewis continuing his lucky streak of losing a lesser amount of points, when underdelivering.
Underdelivered? We didn't have a race but keep letting Lewis live rent free in your head, oh and by the way Lewis still leads the Championship
He underdelivered yesterday - even being beaten by George Russell in hugely inferior car - to me this is underdelivering. It had nothing to do with fanboyism - as you displayed with your comment.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Not just teams. TV channels paying to broadcast F1 will have their lawyers on this.
