That ultimately is the problem.

F1 is interested in replicating the Monaco model everywhere, at the expense of the racing itself.
Better tracks like Monaco and Zandvoort, than tracks like Abu Dhabi or Bahrain. :)

At least Zandvoort is a proper track! Likewise Monaco! Likewise Hungary etc!

Those dreary modern carparks with off camber technical corners are just dull circuits -- I don't care that they are wide and that overtaking is technically possible, that's not the be-all and end-all.
For real, I love this type of circuits, not for 23 races, but yeah, are pretty good.

I'd bet that it all hinges on whether he already lifted when driving past Stroll - did the hearing really just take ~6 minutes?
He started to brake exactly at this point (stroll to the right), so basically immediately after red light is seen in the distance and something like 1s after they've been shown on steering wheel. Keep in mind there's 2 cars behind him that he's just passed seconds before, therefore slamming on the brakes hard is probably more dangerous in this case than just cruising past Stroll.

Ye, fair enough. Just saw Davidson playing it through as well.

Sainz. That looks like a big rebuild.

ANOTHER Red flag. Any marshals within a mile of him yet?

Unusual crash, the movement of the car was a bit uncanny. Almost simracing like. But cool nonetheless; obviously not for Carlos.

Thats the trouble with no run off room. Red flag red flag red flag.

If this happens in the race, we will see safety cars surely

A very strange spin. Like he put on the throttle before the car was pointing in the right direction.

Several, I think. Surely one on the first lap.I’m willing to bet the race is red flagged at least once.

As I said yesterday, I’m not convinced of the circuit’s suitability for F1 but at least it looks like it’ll throw up an action packed race.

To me it looks even some mid fielders have to gamble a bit on a red light.
Undercut will be massive and the only way to make positions on the track if there is a good gap. But as long as no gaps build up the winnner will be one of those who has not pitted into traffic.

You said he didn’t pass anyone. He clearly did. #-o
I said: " ...he does not overtake anyone on the way to the pits." He didn't do that.
He was in a flying lap and when the rad flag occured, he was alongside Stroll, slowed down but couldn't break fast, that would be very dangerous! No penalty.

So he did overtake somebody on the way to the pits then. Oh and Anthony Davidson wasn’t just stirring up the Hamilton fans as the stewards called him up.

Still you crack on.

Since Mercedes can't win in a technical or political sense, they're going theatrical now?

Following this kind of logic, everybody is always on their way to the pits.. because that is where you go at the end.
