Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24

Lewis must be thinking: "ummmm...guys? don't you think someone should be paying attention to my car?"

Oh, i'm sorry... i thought it was the "caption competition" thread...

Stars of qualifying for me were red bull.
I was hoping to see them a little closer to Ferrari but in reality they're about 3/10ths off their pace. Still with such a close field it only takes small steps to make a big difference, and if they can get on top of their problems then hopefully there are some large steps they can take.

They're probably going to be one of the few teams able to introduce an update for the next race, with hopefully another step in China. For me the question is when can they open up that diffuser. Is it going to be 1, 2, 3 or even more races before they can sort the front aero enough to feed that thing?

The car looked quite driveable, but just seemed to lack the confidence needed to push, due to the lack of aero loads on the car...

Expect fireworks off the grid from hamilton. He's carrying a lot less fuel than the cars in front, will have KERS and I expect he'll use the soft tyres in his first stint. We could see him make up a few places at the start...or create the mother and father of all pile ups at turn 1!!

Ha ha ha where is Hamilton?
Best driver ever? Hamilton without best car is as weak as PIquet.
Vettel, Kubica this are very best drivers even without good car.
Hamilton must still learn a lot.!!!

I think he might be able to change his fuel load depending on when they declared their fuel load, and when they declared that they would change the gearbox, or he could start from pit lane.

But it would be nice to see him blast off from the grid and attack... remember when he went from 10th to 4th in the start at Nurbring, only to be hit from behind when Heidfeld & Kubica tussled.

Hopefully they will he/McLaren will try the strategy I suggested on Thursday...

3 stopper using the supersofts for 3 stints, that would be right on with the low starting fuel load, but SC could easily destroy that stategy.

But starting at the back I doubt he'll crate a huge pile up, but he definatly could run into the back of one.

please dont say anything when you dont know anything about it.

You wanna be in front with a car that is more than 1.5 second down on the fastest cars on the grid? A driver cant make a difference of 1.5 second.

r u sure Hamilton without the best car is weak as piquet????
huhuhuhuhuh........ let the race begin.....

Have you seen the Hamilton youtube since he was in karting until now?

You did some research about every Q of the track? If McLaren engineer can do some tweak to improve the Q1 and Q3.. then mclaren is somewhere near to podium..... BUT... it only if the rain during the race.....

have you seen how many times Hamilton win from the back of the grid? if not win the race... he always be near the podium place.

for me.... the race is not begin yet.... we'll see what he got....

They can't change the car between qualifying and the race - what's there to improve? The car is slow - both Hamilton and Kovalainen failed to shine this qualifying.

I think the gap is about 1 second now...thats raw pace to brawn. I think mclarens race pace was a little closer to ferrari than their raw pace was, but they still may suffer more from tyre wear.
Anyways, i think the point is that there is enough of a race car there for them to work with, so it will be an interesting season if not one full of trophies.

maybe if someone starts a LEWIS IS THE GREATEST thread, it may attract the trolls and keep this one clear?

Any big rule changes next year? When will McLaren stop development of the MP4/24 and start up on the MP4/25?
