whats last year got to do with it...this year practise is now testing, which is kind of the point of the threadKester wrote:You guys did follow F1 last year didn't you? Friday practice usually meant very little in relation to qualifying or the race.
I was hoping to see them a little closer to Ferrari but in reality they're about 3/10ths off their pace. Still with such a close field it only takes small steps to make a big difference, and if they can get on top of their problems then hopefully there are some large steps they can take.nudger wrote:have to say, the car didnt look quite as bad as i was expecting in qualifying. Although i dont believe aero is the only issue they have, i think they will be able to drag themselves up towards the front by europe.
Stars of qualifying for me were red bull.
Oh dear.Kriss wrote:Ha ha ha where is Hamilton?
Best driver ever? Hamilton without best car is as weak as PIquet.
Vettel, Kubica this are very best drivers even without good car.
Hamilton must still learn a lot.!!!

I think he might be able to change his fuel load depending on when they declared their fuel load, and when they declared that they would change the gearbox, or he could start from pit lane.bonjon1979 wrote:Expect fireworks off the grid from hamilton. He's carrying a lot less fuel than the cars in front, will have KERS and I expect he'll use the soft tyres in his first stint. We could see him make up a few places at the start...or create the mother and father of all pile ups at turn 1!!
please dont say anything when you dont know anything about it.Kriss wrote:Ha ha ha where is Hamilton?

They can't change the car between qualifying and the race - what's there to improve? The car is slow - both Hamilton and Kovalainen failed to shine this qualifying.chepoi wrote:You did some research about every Q of the track? If McLaren engineer can do some tweak to improve the Q1 and Q3.. then mclaren is somewhere near to podium..... BUT... it only if the rain during the race.....
In F1? I haven't. Have you?chepoi wrote:have you seen how many times Hamilton win from the back of the grid? if not win the race... he always be near the podium place.

You wanna be in front with a car that is more than 1.5 second down on the fastest cars on the grid? A driver cant make a difference of 1.5 second.
