Mercedes' upgraded PU is essentially a 2016 prototype, and it's likely somewhat detuned for reliability reasons.

With such a huge advantage, they can afford to use tokens for gains that won't be realized until a later "reliability" update unlocks their full potential.

At least, that's my line of thought.

While Ferraris' and Nico's times improved from Q2 to Q3, Lewis stayed flat on the same. Either he didn't felt the need to push any more or Merc turned down things on his PU due to the reliability worries borne out of Nico's PU situation.
Yep, 2/10 such a big margin. Lets turn everything down to earth, we're so safe.
You will get the answers in the rest of season. :)
Do you believe the dribble that you post in every thread? Every post of yours is fanboy crap for Hamilton.

Looks pretty much like that.
Really surprised about the small gap to the rest of the field and the excellent Performance of both Ferraris.
What on Earth happened with Kimi? Where did he find that qualifying pace??

I only HOPE this doesn't become a problem tomorrow for Hulk would be a real shame since clearly Hulk and Perez can both have a good showing in the fight for the top 5 - 10.

I can see Hulk and Perez Finishing 5th and 6th. It's possible. But it all depends this I think would be a best case scenario. Worst Case 9th and 10th.
Hulk didn't had enough fuel to complete his inlap

Rosberg came 0,070s short of beating Ferrari with an engine that has run six races already - so I guess a new one would have been enough, no matter the tokens

I can understand why you get so much pissed off. Your tears would have been dried by now. And you are simply trolling here without anything substantial to prove other than ranting.

Just one of your lunatic statements regarding ferrari:

I don't doubt that Mercedes both a. Still have the significantly stronger PU and b. Have used these tokens more for future, rather than immediate gains.

But everything came together fairly well for Ferrari today and that puts them in a great position for the start; if both got ahead, ala Hungary, I think they have a good chance to win with the benefit of clean air.

It's also encouraging that, aside from anything else, Ferrari have used their three tokens to tangible effect and still have four in the bag (albeit they'll take grid penalties when they use them)

So how come all other Merc teams with new units were so much behind Ferrari on power track? Seems to Ferrari unit was always close to Merc on race pace, but would never be able to extract those ~30hp in Q2 and Q3 unlike Merc. In the end thats exactly what James Allison said few months ago, they arent able to use such a agressive mapping in qualifying as Merc can. Maybe now they can...
