Gitanes, we get how you feel. But this crusade of yours is farcical.

Deal with it like an adult, it is not you that is banned.
Besides, X may be back in time when things settle down.

Time, the great healer.

Not sure how many more "x is banned" variations of threads this place can tolerate.

Now man up!
Certainly it can tolerate a few more after all the driver "x" is better than driver "y" debates that were allowed to go on, or the out and out ignoring of black and white technical matters were allowed to slide.

What's the point of this thread?

Also, why is this third thread necessary? I would have thought it would be clear as to why xpensive received the banhammer even if you disagreed with the decision.

We have merged the other topics into one. Same will happen with this once it's 'purpose', whatever that is, is served. Honestly, the voting up until just reflects the same balance as the other threads did.

If there's a point going to be made from all of this, I'd rather skip to that part myself. I also fail to see how driver comparison topics, we btw did eventually had to close them one by one, have anything to do with Xpensive's ban. For the record, you don't have to wait until someone is banned to approach us with your grievances. We have PM buttons next to our names, and we do listen.

Just want to say that I used to be arround when he came in with his arrogant comments and was one of the things that made me go away (among many many others)..

Then I decided to ignore his remarks and recently I understood that his sense of humour is something he cant avoid.

In a tech forum he is not a necessity, in a chit chat forum he may be funny.
This stopped being a technical forum in any true sense long ago.

Consider this, there are no qualified technical moderators on this forum.

Qualified means they have an engineering degree and real world engineering experience in the relevant fields, and as such are highly qualified to speak on matters of technical engineering.

i have a feeling some people want to feel like becoming or turning themselves into a martyr and go for round 2 in the hopes they get what they were expecting/hoping to happen in the first place.

there's never total freedom. total freedom results in anarchy. which is essentially the end of another man's freedom.

and really?

what's next, X suposedly is a fallen hero?

What qualifications do you have, that makes you qualified to judge the qualifications of the moderators?

Yeah, well G-T, seems Dennis Hopper reconsidered what that meant, when he made this flick a couple of years later..

Oh because I've been here far longer than you have buddy boy....and when you know who the real engineers are, it gives you a lot of insight into who actually knows their stuff.

Back in the old days there was a mod known as 747H....he was a real deal engineer. His handle should give you a clue about what kind of engineering he did.

Except we're not talking about anything but one movie.

So...your point is what?

Re: Should xpensive be banned? Vote on it

I was hoping to keep away from any what can be considered controversial arguments, but this thread is not going to produce anything that'll make sense.

-First off, I believe GitanesBlondes' point is more about criticism towards the moderation then about Xpensive's ban. We can take criticism and we'll infact listen to it, as long as you threat us with the same respect any decent person does to the person next to him. Being constructive will always help you more then trying to break down the wall.

-Second, given in mind my first point: Don't you think it's disrespectful toward Xpensive to use his situation as a reason, perhaps as a cover to slow walk us to a epiphany? Xpensive does deserve a better closure, so to speak, then that.

-Third, and this I feel the biggest point. The site is founded by Steven who, forgive me if I'm mistaken, I don't think has studied for an engineering degree. Yet it's been said this forum stopped to be technical, implying it was infact technical in the past yet founded, owned and run by the same person you deem not qualified.

But what is qualified? Was Pat Fry for instance qualified to get Ferrari back to its championship-winning ways? The (new) management of Ferrari does not seem so, even though he has years of experience.
Just because you have a degree does not automatically mean you are qualified, and just because you don't have a degree does not automatically mean you are not qualified. We do however run the site as best as we can. We aren't perhaps engineers, but we do have our experience and our lust for knowledge about F1. We aren't afraid to be wrong and to be corrected, because that's how you learn and grow as a person.
Having said all that, GB: do you think lingering around xpensive's ban is going to make us more technical? We gave everybody some space to vent their thoughts, but by stretching this out more a signal is being given to the silent engineers who actually work for F1 teams that we are more busy with how a member is being perceived and not with the technical part.

Please man, I know we have our differences. We don't have to shake hands or anything, and for my part you can hate the moderation around here as much as you want. But you are dragging this out more then is good for anybody, including xpensive himself. Let it go.
