All very good, but the rest of the field sped up in Q3, otherwise he wouldn't have qualified where he did. Naturally I was talking about relative times.zeph wrote:Alonso Q2:1:47.544myurr wrote: If Alonso is running a wet set up biased enough to make him qualify in P10 why is he running less rear wing than the McLaren, and why did he do worse than he did in Q2 when it was bone dry?

Alonso had visibly MORE rear wing from what i could see... I think it is difficult to judge the threshold of effectiveness of different teams F Ducts at higher and lower wing angles. Alonso was running alot more wing that his team mate though.myurr wrote:I'm actually going to call it the other way and say that Alonso went with a setup too biased towards dry running. He had visibly less wing than the McLarens, according to Ted on the BBC, and thus was able to carry less apex speed through the corners leading and had worse traction, leading to the lower speeds through the speed trap at Radillon.zeph wrote:Top speeds qualifying:

No way that Alonso is nearly 10km/h slower than Massa. I reckon this substantiates the wet-biased set-up claim.
Given that the last runs were in partially wet conditions, Alonso would have benefitted from a wet setup and not lost out.
so it goes posting before calculating is not the best of ideas.. but there you go...Pup wrote:Grid by best sector times:marcush. wrote:...Webbers time must have been veryy close to what was possible on the day...

Yeah, Webber and Kubica really benefitted from putting in a solid first attempt. Without a wet 1st corner, I think we would have had a very different grid - at least through P5.marcush. wrote:then again we can see that both Mclaren pilots left too much on the plate in Q3
as did Vettel...
how come that Rosberg got a 5 place penalty ,but is only dropping two?zgred wrote:FIA publishes amended Spa grid

Massa was actually running a DIFFERENT rear wing.rich1701 wrote:
