for me cars are cars as long as they have 4 wheels.
For that matter a wet weather setup will deviate considerably from a dry setup...just think about cornering speeds and breaking traction everything will change and as all parameters will have changed dramatically (even the tyre diamters are different ,let alone front tyre width!)you will be able to make huge gains by adapting to it ,remove
negative camber ,fit softer springs ,less rollresistance, add traction more wing ,higher rideheight you could even think about diff settings .If it would not make sense to do a setup change under dramatically different conditions ...for what reason one would change setup for 5 degrees in track temps ..the logic behind this is not clear..you can only tune the car if the conditions change slightly but when big changes in conditons are on leave the car alone as it does not make a difference....

The wet weather is supposed to have the higher downforce and higher ride height. Looking on the majority of the cars today, MOST of them including the Mclarens had high ride height.
Then that leaves the downforce setting. Alonso and Mass had the same rear and front wings for Qualifying. You can see them on the F1.com website Saturday qualifying gallery.
Then compare Alonso and Massa's time in Sector 2 to see who really has more downforce. I don't think Alonso's setup is different at all. Why would he risk a pole position for a gamble in the wet?

Webber FTW! :D

That's what you call making the most of your dry lap - Webber was smart and let everyone else go out and improve the track conditions and then nailed his lap! :D

It's false. Alonso is on full wet setup, and look at the rear wings of alonso :

Rearwing was available to both drivers. Massa opted for this new lower downforce configuration, Alonso opted for the slotted higher downforce one.
Both drivers tried both rearwings though (as well as both front wings)

Good luck to Alonso moving up the grid. It's going to be pretty hard convincing Sutil, Barichello, Hulkenburg, then Massa  that they're slower than him!

Smedley: Sutil, Alonso is faster,... Alonso is.....faster.... understood? 8)
For Sure!!

At this moment track is dry but there are some wet spots and dangerous kerbs.

So Safety Car (three times) and stewards were really busy during GP2 sprint race. Tire wall at turn 9 had particularly tough time.

Will it rain?

Legard on Twitter: "Alonso on a wet setup for the race. Worried by lack of pace in dry practice before qualifying. All forecasts suggest rain this afternoon"

The GP2 and GP3 races were a damn good watch, Perez has shown that he can take a seat at Sauber next year with that drive now. Ass for the GP3 race, what a call by Tambay staying out on slicks to gain a massive advantage that was clawed back by the guys on the wet rubber, to hold off pressure from Guiteriez in the last 2 laps was a storming drive. Almost as good as Rob Wickens yesterday in the GP3 race then.

De La Rosa sent to back of the grid after becoming the first driver to exceed the 8 engine limit by using his 9th engine of the season.

Sauber happy with Engine supply? It was never communicated if all those failures were Ferrari responsibility.they had appalling reliability never heard before off since joining f1..

Toro Rosso had broken 1 engine... Ferrari one, at the start of the season, since Malaysia, Ferrari did not break a single engine. Toro Rosso brake one engine, in Hungary.
It Sauber who brakes Ferrari engine, not the Ferrari engine which is not reliable.
