Nice and clean job by Sebastian Vettel. Bad luck for Kubica and Rosberg both loosing wheels. Webber the was gifted another three points by lady luck despite botching another start.

Nice to see Schumi more competitive once again. Great driving by Kobayashi although I suspect that his overtaking on Heidfeld was team order. Those guys at Suzuka should rename the hairpin to Kobayashi corner.

Merc lost an engine in Sutil's car.

The McLarens are looking like falling out of the championship race. I can't wait for the Korean GP.

Fastest laps are pretty meaningless now without refueling. The cars will always be the fastest on the last lap when they are the lightest. This also happens to be the lap where everyone slow down if they are in a solid position.

Webber bagged the fastest lap for no other reason but to annoy Vettel.

Fair enough, I have been wrong before about stuff like this.

However, I think I chose my words carefully though:

And that was a direct response to Guessdot's post which seemed to imply that the team was somehow giving Button better equipment.

vettel said in the interview that he usually tries to get the fastest lap towards the end but that this time he decided not to be stupid and risk losing his win. nice maturity improvement there from him :)

And in the end Schumacher was taking only tenths of seconds from Hamilton's advantage when Hamilton already stopped shifting lower than 4th, until then Schumacher was slower, so no way he could gain another position if Rosberg let him through.
no thats not the case imho.

Kobayashi caught and overtook Heidfeld .Who was right on the back of schumacher before rosberg crashed out.
So it is reasonable kobayashi would have had a run on the Mercedes pair if their tangle would have gone on. so there was the possibility to lose two or three positions for both cars.

and he didn't want Alonso to have any chance to dive on him on the last lap, let's be honest, Alonso was closing on Webber the last 5-6 laps.

I really think Webber is just as fast as Vettel now. He did the right thing by just taking 2nd; collecting good points for the championship and then just kicking some dust in vettel's eyes as you say.

I was mightily impressed by Koboyashi and Heidfeld as well. Kobayashi seems to have that passing instinct and Heidfeld is coming back up to speed. Too bad he won't be at Sauber next year because that is a strong driver combination.

I think Schumaccer has been mentoring him for the last few races. He has a new calmness about him now.

A well deserved and overdue win for Vettel! =D>

Shame about the start but Petrov just pulled left too soon after what was looking like going to be a fantastic start. Same for Massa, made a good start but the grass was his demise.

Apart from the start it was a good race and fantasic results for Kobyashi and Schumacher.
