I have Hamilton's engine exploding and no, it's not over.

It took them hours... So they measured Merc tyres differently and that's it? How is that a "normal' procedure when different measurements gave "significantly different temperatures from other cars measured on the grid"? That's the opposite of anything normal. Where am I?

They might as well vote for results, if they can even spin measurements this sport can do anything. Whose fault is it then? Technical delegate measures temps and gives results to non technical to judge, they come up with blankets and that's all folks.

If I'm calculating correctly, the temperature change required to shift 0.3 PSI is about 7°C (assuming the blankets were at 110°C).

Deserved win for Hamilton.

I am gutted for Kimi. He deserved a much better result. Shame... I think he is one of the unluckiest drivers. His Mclaren years were horrible with reliability and in Ferrari, it looks like it is always his car with the problems.

Rosberg tyre was 1.1 PSI below the limit. The FIA explanation can't explain what happened on Rosberg tyre. Even Smedley said it would not affect the pressure enough to make a difference.

Did you read the official declaration ? The tires were at the required minimum pressure when they were fitted to the car, as was supervised by Pirelli tire engineer.

From F1F:

Full clarification on the stewards’ ruling as posted by the FIA is as follows:
Having heard from the Technical Delegate, the Team epresentatives and the Pirelli Team Tyre engineer, the Stewards have determined that the pressure in the tyres concerned were at the minimum start pressure recommended by Pirelli when they were fitted to the car. In making this determination regarding the pressures, the Stewards noted that the tyre warming blankets had been disconnected from their power source, as is normal procedure, and the tyres were significantly below the maximum permitted tyre blanket temperature at the time of the FIAs measurement on the grid, and at significantly different temperatures from other cars measured on the grid.

Further, the Stewards are satisfied that the team followed the currently specified procedure, supervised by the Tyre Manufacturer, for the safe operation of the tyres. Therefore the Stewards decide to take no further action.

Nevertheless, the Stewards recommend that the Tyre Manufacturer and the FIA hold further meetings to provide clear guidance to the teams on measurement protocols.

From now on, it is open season. Every team should just slightly cheat. "Cheat responsibly"

I have no doubts what would have happened if that was Manor's driver!

Apart form Merc and Ferrari, others wouldn't have gotten away.

I'd suggest this is a case of "Every dog gets one free bite" - that the parameters of the rule and how it would be enforced were ill defined so it was unenforceable. Evidence was presented showing that the tyres were set within parameters (presumably with the Pirelli engineer's approval). I'd expect a new technical directive stating how they will be measured in future.

The initial report says "the thread surface temperatures of the left hand side rear tires of the cars.... was within the specification of the tire supplier" So the temperatures were in normal range when they took the measurements for the pressure.
