I understand that the MP4-18 would have easily won that championship but why blame Mercedes completely for the reliability? HIs size zero concept was too narrow that didn't help in engine cooling. I believe the blame should go 50-50 on that occasion.

I will agree that both Frank Williams and Ron Dennis with their wrong decisions sent Andrian Newey to the exit still though what I am trying to say is that Andrian Newey wasn't perfect always. He did screw up a few times.
I realize we are bouncing around between previous Mclaren eras, but I think a "fast but fragile" car isn't necessarily a screw up. "Fast but fragile" shows conceptual understanding which is priceless and more difficult to obtain than a slow but reliable car.
For example, Mclaren would be glad to have the fastest car on the grid this year, but DNF due to reliability in 4 races, than to have an average car that is reliable. It would indicate that the hardest part (aerodynamics) is understood.
