Blimey, I fell asleep and only bloody now just woke up. Look like I didn't miss much. Looks like tomorrow is going to be a proper borefest. Did anyone enjoy the sprint or was it just me who couldn't keep my eyes open?
Well worth a watch for Mick Schumachers ~10lap defence of Hamilton. What a bit of driving that was.
A bit of driving? It was all due to the DRS train that developed. Perez fell into the same trap, but kudos to him for taking advantage of a Mick mis-step when stuck being Magnussen.

Mick is 100% right when he says he should have been given the go ahead to get by K-Mag. He had boatloads more pace.

Plenty of 2021 defence moves there. Defending to one side and then coming back across and not leaving a car's width? Check! Pushing a car off that is significantly alongside? Check! It wasn't "a bit of driving" at all. It was poor driving that ought to be punished. But won't be, of course, because "the show!".

In fairness to Mick, it was the sort of thing his Dad did 20 years ago too.

And the same driving Hamilton displayed in the opening lap. So you didn’t need to look 20 years back. I know you are a hardcore LH44 fan but get some perspective. They all hang on for dear life. I actually thought this was one of the better things I have seen Mick do so far. Yes he was on the edge, maybe slightly over here and there, but he also showed some quite good driving.

Sorry, but I'm taking nothing seriously from a person that calls me a hardcore fan when they are a top poster on a specific driver's fan forum. That's perspective.

You really should, I have never made a secret of that, many times I even wrote it here. Many. But you are always, always pushing your agenda and with imho unfair points. Mick did a good job today, just appreciate that.

Nothing wrong with it at all. Many times Mick only moved once I’m under braking. It’s not like he was shaking down the straight. He stayed perfectly straight possibly on a slight angle then moved back over. Absolute top notch driving IMHO.

Tbh, looking at the Perez onboard at the start, Hamilton’s excessive squeezing after turn 1 on Perez was much more towards the penalty position than Mick ever was.

Not sure how you can ever mention, as a Hamilton fan yourself, leaving a cars width. Go watch the onboard from Perez and see how little space Lewis left.

He was just complaining on the radio because he couldn’t get past Mick. Twisting about track limits in a hope he would gain a position from a penalty.

And yet he wasn’t penalised so I guess the answer to your question must logically be “enough of a cars width”. No?

In which regard, the same for Just_a_fan complaining about Micks defence to Hamilton.

No Hamilton/Mercedes fan can ever bring up being pushed out when overtaking when their own driver did the exact same thing on lap 1.

Lap 1 is a laissez-faire situation because the cars are tripping over each other left and right.

Lap 20 or so is a different situation - defend to the right and you absolutely must leave a car's width of you go back to the left.

As a Max fan that's probably difficult to remember, but it's been "a thing" for years - perhaps as long as Max has been alive.

Want to show the screen grab of Sergio almost pit maneuvering himself off Hamilton when he cut across his nose?

Did Max’s fan page move here? Looking at the list of top posters there and I see a lot of familiar names…

Could that lap 1 moving over to 2/3 of a car length left to the white line after turn 1 of been avoided? That was purely a case of Lewis trying to run Perez off the road to the limit (questionable within itself to being within limit) and hoping he would lift off so he would lose momentum on him.

I can’t see any other reason why Lewis would need to move over that soon after a corner.

If Lewis did the same thing on lap 20 it wouldn’t have been ok would it?

It wasn’t even a defensive move to try to stop a overtake into a corner, it was straight after a corner.

Get it posted up, or a video. Even better.

I can’t see how anyone can even attempt to defend Hamilton’s move to pushing Perez over.
Guess behind some fans rose tinted glasses, he can never do anything wrong and it’s lays someone else’s fault.

1100 posts in 7 months and 7 upvotes (and mostly for just sharing a tweet), Max Verstappen avatar, and the only one with a problem here. Yeah, I can read the room…

Having actually raced in motorsports, this was nothing.
