Yeah that's interesting, I wonder if they were taking the fuel out and as it approached the minimum weight they stopped and said "that's all". Must've been a funny scene.

In fact Russell spent most of his first stint in DRS zone of PerezCaribouBread wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 18:44They probably expected to run a few laps in DRS, didn't expect to be so fast, didn't calibrate the fuel changes accurately after the spec rollback in FP sessions. Many things could've led to this but I don't think the Stewards will be sympathetic.
Could you explain to me the thing with fuel, and why it might be "deliberate cheating" according to some ?
Fuel really has nothing to play here.Spoutnik wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 18:45In fact Russell spent most of his first stint in DRS zone of PerezCaribouBread wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 18:44They probably expected to run a few laps in DRS, didn't expect to be so fast, didn't calibrate the fuel changes accurately after the spec rollback in FP sessions. Hamilton was in clear air for most of the race and the weight is ok.
Really not understand what happened
Ok thank you all for your answers I get it now.Farnborough wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 18:47Fuel really has nothing to play here.Spoutnik wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 18:45In fact Russell spent most of his first stint in DRS zone of PerezCaribouBread wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 18:44They probably expected to run a few laps in DRS, didn't expect to be so fast, didn't calibrate the fuel changes accurately after the spec rollback in FP sessions. The car must be EMPTY of fuel to check it's weight.
Responsibility of MB crew to extract the fuel at end, if they realised it was going to be under weight, then told the stewards that's all they could get out of the system...... knowing they've left some in there deliberately to make up to minimum weight, then that's fraudulent.Spoutnik wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 18:47Could you explain to me the thing with fuel, and why it might be "deliberate cheating" according to some ?
The thing I didn't understand was that they must be aware the usual procedure of the FIA imply to remove the "excess" fuel left in the car for the 798 kg measure
