Red Bull trying to persuade Masi into letting Perez into the race.

Arguing semantics.
Horner saying they didnt have any assistance to get the car back ?!?!

To get the car into the race, apparently, you're not allowed assistance during the race...but if the hasn't started, then they could have a point...but even if they have a poi nt I doubt the stewards will allow him to start they are quire unrelenting.

If the FIA did a "start procedure suspended" rather than "race suspended", does this mean the race hasn't started?. And thus Perez can start the race when the race procedure is resumed, be it a lap down?.
No. Unless Perez completed all reconnaissance laps under his own power, he may not start from the grid and may not start from the pitlane either.

I mean that’s clearly a lie isn’t it!
Can’t blame them for trying but it looks like a bit of an open and shut case with the regs that were posted on here a couple of minutes ago.

It’s more than just that at risk.
If they say no because the race has started then surely we are out of parc ferme.

My point is that this could get messy.
The rule is clear cut though. Cars must complete reconnaissance laps under their own power.
True but all the cars are going to have to do that again anyway.

That’s the point, no race start means it’s a reset so if Perez gets his lap to the grid then why not?
ALL reconnaissance laps have to be completed under your own power. You are not limited on number, you just need get back to the pits or the grid by yourself!

What the hell is going on? How can the race not have technically started?

Chaos.
It looks pretty organised to me.

So if the race has not started as per Red Bull, if it stays like this and we get no running, will there be no points awarded?

Yes, and if you dont qualify in 107% of the best time, you cannot start either. Yet drivers that crash out in Q1 without posting a time typically do start.
It's up to Masi.

The best part about this forum is you can tell which channel broadcast people are watching by the barrage of identical comments based on what Sky just did/showed/said

38.2 ...Any car which is still in the pit lane can start from the end of the pit lane provided it got there under its own power.
Cars may not start from pitlane if they did not get there under their own power either.
PER will drive out of the garage to the end of the pitlane at worst. I actually believe he’ll be able to rejoin as the race hasn’t started.

The last bit I must admit is still confusing me, I don’t believe they’ll be permitted to replenish spent fuel, which means Masi will reduce the length of the race I guess.

Just come back in 1hr as that is the realistic start time.

I understand that.
RedBull must think they’ve got a case. I’m trying to work out what they think it is.

They must think that the fact we haven’t started means that it’s a cold reset. So everything is wiped.
