Japanese fury for BAR Honda
BAR Honda and Jenson Button are up for a rough reception from the Japanese crowds at Suzuka. The Japanese fans are, according to reports, preparing banners with anti-Button slogans after confirmation that their hero Takuma Sato will be dropped by BAR at the end of the season.
When Jenson Button finally managed to extricate himself from his Williams contract, it ended Sato's last hope of remaining at BARK The team had already signed Rubens Barrichello to partner Button next season and Sato insists he is not interested in returning to his former role as test and reserve driver. The Japanese fans are some of the most passionate in the motorsport world, despite a lack of successful drivers from their country.
Sato looked to change all that, his points finishes in the last 3 Japanese Grand Prix being greeted by his adoring home fans. He should recieve a hero's welcome again this year, but the Suzuka crowd may not be so friendly towards BAR Honda and Button.
A Suzuka spokesperson said: "Takuma has a big following in Japan and they love his brave racing style. The fans are not happy and have said they will make their feelings clear."
In the meantime Takuma Sato is looking for a race seat at an other Team.
