Hamilton on top, Renault promising in FP2
Lewis Hamilton was again the fastest man on track in FP2. Earlier on, he already proved the best in FP1, even then with a slightly faster lap than in the afternoon. In a busy session where everyone completed more than 30 laps, Renault showed promise again with 2nd and 3rd place.
Lewis Hamilton set a quick time early on in the session just one tenth slower than during the morning practice. No one was able or willing to beat it during the rest of the session.
Everything passed by uneventful until, 15minutes from the end Piquet spun his car, although he was able to continue. Sébastien Bourdais was less fortunate as he ended up in the gravel on the outside of turn 1, effectively ending his session with just 8 minutes to go.
In the closing stages of the session, the Renaults jumped forward, with first Piquet and then Alonso going second fastest. Another Renault engine of Mark Webber as also performing nicely.
