Alonso happy with season
World Champion Fernando Alonso says he has had a perfect season even if his team doesn't win the Constructors' title. But the young Spaniard will do everything what's in his power to help secure the Constructor's title for the Mild Seven Renault F1 Team and to make sure McLaren doesn't.
The Spaniard secured his first drivers' crown in Brazil last month, but the constructors' championship goes down to the season's final race in Shanghai. The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team lead McLaren Mercedes 176-174, but Alonso played down its significance.
Fernando Alonso "I can't ask for more from a season - if win the constructors' it's okay, if not, it's okay too. It's important for the image of the team and a little bit for the hype for next year but really not a crucial point."
McLaren has won the last six races with Kimi Raikkonen claiming four of those victories to take his season's tally to seven wins compared with Alonso's six.
But Alonso said the Finn's recent dominance does not put him under any extra pressure.
"I don't care how many the others win - if everything stays like this I will be happy because I won only one race less than the best car in Formula One."
