I'm still ambitious to improve - Kubica
For Robert Kubica, who last year secured the first ever race victory for the BMW Sauber F1 Team, this season has not gone at all to plan. The Pole has only finished in the points on one occasion so far. However, Robert has not lost any of his fighting spirit. On the contrary, he is able to draw positives out of the happenings on the track.
"I don't think that it is as difficult as it maybe looks from the outside," says Kubica. "We are not in a position to fight for wins, but I still think this season can be a good year in terms of experience. In the end you have to learn from this kind of situation: me as a driver, and the team as a team. I can learn quite a lot."
The 24-year-old reminds us that it is not just the BMW Sauber F1 Team that is having to cope with disappointments. At the race in Silverstone he was involved in a battle with world champions Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton for fourteenth place. "That is how it is at the moment," says Robert.
These facts change nothing about the Pole's approach to racing, however. "I am still ambitious to improve," Robert emphasises. "At the moment we are struggling to get in front of the big group that contains people who are really competitive. This group is very close together and that creates a very packed situation. We know that we have to work harder to further improve."
