Marc Gene likely to stay on as Ferrari test driver
Current test and reserve driver Marc Gene admits that simply driving for the Scuderia Ferrari is a dream come true, and that moving elsewhere in the Formula One paddock to race is not very likely. The Spaniard has 36 race starts under his belt, as well as significant Le Mans experience.
"Some teams have contacted me. But, for me, Ferrari is a dream come true," Gene shared at an Abu Dhabi university press conference.
"I would have second thoughts about leaving," he added. "Regarding the contract, we are talking now but it is highly likely I will stay next year. New teams are coming in but I'm very happy where I am."
As it stands, Ferrari have three test/reserve drivers for the 2010 season; Luca Badoer, Marc Gene, and Giancarlo Fisichella. Although Fisichella has the option to race elsewhere should he be given the opportunity.
