Loeb not to make F1 debut at Abu Dhabi
Sebastien Loeb will not compete at the final Grand Prix of the year at Abu Dhabi, it has been confirmed. Members of the French media however claim it is because the French rally ace has not been granted a superlicense to participate the race.
It is claimed that the FIA deemed his submission not admissible as he lacks GP2 of F3 succes, despite being a 5 time World Rally Champion and a competitor at the Le Mans 24h race.
Other sources note that Loeb himself finally rejected the opportunity as he considered it too risky. Indeed, Sébastien Loeb would have arrived in Abu Dhabi without having tested the Toro Rosso which he was supposed to race.
Apart from a single GP2 test at Jerez just after the Rally of Catalonia, Loeb would not have had the time to try on the STR3. He would have been too handicapped to be able to put in a performance up to his standards.
