Epsilon Euskadi aiming to compete in 2011
Epsilon Euskadi, the Basque outfit from northern Spain is hoping to be given an opportunity to compete in the 2011 Formula One World Championship after previously being denied so for the current season. Team boss Joan Villadelprat said, "We were ready in June, we had the financial support, but for whatever reasons we were not chosen."
The FIA has since begun an open invitation to possible new teams for the 2011 and 2012 season, where at least one new outfit will be added to the grid, mainly in order to fill the gap left by the defunked USF1 organization. By April 15 those interested should submit a 'formal expression of interest', and the full application by late June, with the decision being taken by July.
"We will reopen the project and my job is to re-gather all of the support that we had. If the FIA gives us enough time to be ready for next year, we can be in F1," Villadelprat added to his short statement to 'ESPN'.
