FIA reject 13th entry to F1 grid
After reports already emerged yesterday, the FIA have now officially confirmed not to grant the 13th slot on the grid. After considering the possible entries, the governing body found none of the candidates fit to compete in Formula One.
It is believed that three parties were bidding for the additional entry in F1.
Stefan GP was the least likely to make it, as they had already been rejected last year.
Second was the Durango/Villeneuve combination which looked more likely. The two joined their efforts to make it into F1, and the news will certainly come in as a considerable disappointment.
The third possible entry came from Epsilon Euskadi, a Spanish venture currently competing in the World Series by Renault and the Le Mans series. The company, led by former F1 men Joan Villadelprat and Sergio Rinland have everything in place, but have confirmed they do not have the budget to compete in F1 up to the level they would like.
