McLaren Mercedes isn't panicking

The McLaren Mercedes Team has admitted that it is in a race against time to solve the problems with its 2.4 liter V8 engine before the first race of the 2006 Formula One season in Bahrain. The Mercedes V8 engine has lacked both reliability and power so far.

Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug is aware that the programme for the new engine was behind schedule from the beginning and that the McLaren Mercedes Team isn't where they should be at this point with the V8 programme.

Norbert Haug said in an interview with Autosport magazine:
“I openly admit that we are not where we want to be with the V8 programme. The timescale is tight and we have some problems. Will we have it 100% solved before Bahrain – who knows?”

Haug added: “We’re not panicking.”
