Last day for Williams

On the last day of testing in Barcelona, Spain, Nico Rosberg and Alexander Wurz were on duty for the Williams F1 Team. Nico Rosberg set a sixth time and Alexander Wurz, Williams third driver, was tenth out of 11 drivers on track.

Sam Michael, Technical Director, WilliamsF1 “Today Nico and Alex finished testing in the cold conditions in Barcelona. Nico worked on tyre testing for Bridgestone, focusing on their different compounds. Meanwhile, Alex concentrated on long runs to investigate various mechanical set-ups and brake cooling. We tested some new aerodynamic parts for the FW28 this week and confirmed they are all working as expected.”

Simon Corbyn, Head of F1 Race Engineering, Cosworth “Cosworth completed this week’s Barcelona test in reasonable shape. The first day was difficult as we had to stop running Mark’s primary Series 2 test engine when it developed a leak which couldn’t be fixed trackside. In addition, Nico suffered an engine failure, although this was at high mileage and was an earlier spec engine. Fortunately, the remainder of the test was rather less eventful as Alex successfully exceeded the two race weekend target mileage on his Series 2 engine, plus we were able to complete valuable engine calibration work in preparation for Bahrain.”
