Yalla Bahrain! on the move

By on

Yalla Bahrain! is the programme of sporting, cultural and community events being staged throughout the month-long lead-up period to the 2006 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Most of the activities will take place away from the Bahrain International Circuit, bringing the excitement of Formula One to the people of Bahrain and the many international visitors to the country.

For the VIPs in the prestigious Paddock Club™ and Formula One paddock, however, there will be an additional opportunity to get into the spirit of the Yalla Bahrain! festivities over the Grand Prix weekend, however, as the Motorsport Art Exhibition is relocated from its current home in the Bahrain National Museum to become a centrepiece of the Paddock Club™ area.

The Motorsport Art Exhibition is one of the key events in the Yalla Bahrain! Programme held at the Bahrain National Museum in the run-up to the Grand Prix.

The cream of Formula One artwork is included in the exhibition from Michel Comte (photography), Olivia Davis (abstract) and Jill Bradley (portrait). Alongside these international artists has been assembled several vibrant new bodies of work from within the Bahraini arts community. Abbas Al-Mosawi has depicted Formula One against a backdrop of traditional Bahraini life and landmarks, Ella Prakash has completed an amazing challenge to create 10 new works in 10 days and children aged from 6-15 years attending Bahraini arts societies have produced paintings on a theme of ‘what does motorsport mean to me?’

The exhibition will be open in the sumptuous Paddock Club™ above the Pit Lane from Friday 10th March to Sunday 12th March, right in the heart of the action of the 2006 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. Access will be free to all who have access to the Formula One Paddock, and promises to be an enriching cultural experience unique to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
