Magazine reveals first render of 2015 Williams
The Williams FW37 has become the first car to be pictured as it is present in all its glory on the cover of the new edition of F1 Racing magazine. The cover however is a rendering and is unlikely to be the final spec for on-track testing.
Interestingly, the nose cone is exactly was was expected, with the team going for a 5cm thumb extension to form the tip of the nose. Based on the same design principle as last year's finger noses, the extension is there only to meet the regulations, while it is kept as narrow as possible to allow as much airflow as possible underneath the nose.
The car is set to build on Williams' solid FW36 which powered the team to third in the Championship Constructors' standings. With its sleek aerodynamic shapes, the car proved slippery, and not that far off of the 2015 regulations. Last year's Williams already featured a small extension at the tip, enabling the team to develop that concept rather than create something entirely different, which would then have the dramatic impact on the rest of the car that some designers have already spoken out about.
