Another Bahrain ‘First’!
Work is now complete on the biggest advertisement in the history of Formula One: the total branding of the 47-storey Almoayyed Tower in the heart of the glittering Seef District in readiness for the forthcoming 2006 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Standing fully 172m tall, the Allmoayyed Tower is one of the great landmarks of Manama, capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain. It has 42 commercial floors, a basement, two service floors and two floors filled by a health club, swimming pool and café, built on a footprint area of 2,025m² and has a total floor space of 48,400m².
Depicted on the tower are two of the most popular cars to have appeared in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the history of the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix: seven-time champion Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari (winner of the inaugural event in 2004) and last year’s winner, the Renault of reigning world champion Fernando Alonso. The two cars, over 8 storeys high apiece, are depicted from overhead, shrieking up the tower leaving their distinctive grooved tread pattern behind them under the slogan ‘It’s Time To Choose Sides’.
“The Allmoayyed Tower is an awe-inspiring sight on the Manama skyline,” said Martin Whitaker, General Manager of Bahrain International Circuit. “To see it now, with two of the world’s most famous racing cars hurtling up the front of it, is a stunning achievement and one that embodies the most dynamic event in Bahrain’s sporting history: the opening round of the 2006 FIA Formula One World Championship. With over 400 million viewers expected worldwide, this is one very proud nation.”
