Pirelli reveals tyre choices for the coming Hungarian GP
Pirelli announced on Tuesday what the individual tyre choices for the forthcoming Hungarian GP looks like. Tyre selections between different teams do not show huge differences, only Ferrari stands out with its high number of the supersoft compound.
The Milan-based tyre company chose the supersoft, soft and medium tyre for the twisty Hungarian track near Budapest. Pirelli has often disappointed with too conservative tyre choices so far this season, but the current very high temperatures in Hungary could mean that the softest compound won’t last too long.
As for the individual choices, Ferrari stands out as it ordered nine sets of supersoft tyre, one more then its arch-rival Mercedes and two more then Red Bull, its nearest competitor in the Constructors’ Championship.
Force India drivers continue its tradition with ordering the most of the hardest compound available. Nico Hülkenberg and Sergio Perez chose two sets of the white-marked medium compound. They were joined by Esteban Gutierrez in this choice.
There is little difference between choices of team-mates. Only the Haas drivers opted for different selections. Grosjean ordered one set less of the medium compound.
