Ferrari aggressive, Mercedes conservative with Spa tyre choice

Ferrari presented itself again as the most aggressive team with its tyre selection for the upcoming Belgian GP while its fierce rival Mercedes went into conservative mode. The table shows big differences between teams and also teammates.

Pirelli announced individual tyre choices for the Spa race. The Italian manufacturer brings the trio of mediums, softs and supersofts which looks an interesting option for the high-speed circuit.

Mercedes drivers opted for different choices, reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton ordered three sets of mediums while his teammate Nico Rosberg four which is the highest number of mediums ordered.

The Anglo-German squad’s choice looks surprising because it means their drivers cannot do any running on supersofts during the three free practice sessions if they intend to keep the usual four new sets for the qualifying session and the race.

Esteban Gutierrez, the Ferrari and Sauber drivers went the most aggressive with their choices as they ordered seven sets from the softest compound brought to Spa.
