Testing begins at Vallelunga

By on

The first day of the Honda Racing F1 Team’s three-day test at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy began this morning with Anthony Davidson driving chassis RA106-02 and James Rossiter driving the brand new chassis RA106-05.

This is the first time that the team has tested in Vallelunga and has the advantage of exclusive use of the circuit this week.

Intermittent rain showers prevented any dry tyre running in the morning session, so both drivers completed some early wet set-up runs.

The circuit dried out sufficiently by 2pm to allow Anthony and James to begin their dry running programmes. The circuit continued to steadily improve throughout the afternoon session with track temperatures reaching a high of 26˚c and ambient temperatures reaching 20˚c.

Anthony ran through a tyre evaluation completing 140 laps in total, while James ran through a chassis programme concentrating on various set-up options in the new chassis 05, completing 97 laps.

Anthony and James will remain in their respective cars for the second day of the test tomorrow.
