We are taking nothing for granted - Shorrock
Following the success of being able to collect eight World Championship points at the Australian GP, not only the BMW Sauber F1 Team is optimistically heading towards the next races. Nick Shorrock, F1 Director of tyre partner Michelin, is satisfied with the progress achieved in the development work.
Particularly the numerous rule and regulation changes prior to the new season posed huge challenges for Formula One's tyre suppliers. In 2006, for instance, tyre changes during races have been allowed once more. The drivers are required to decide on one of two different dry tyre options, with which they then have to enter the Grand Prix as well.
According to Shorrock, Michelin has been able to cope with the new requirements very well. "Michelin and its partners were able to take up the challenge of the new regulations from the first races. We have been able to reach the expectations of our teams and we give concrete expression to the work we completed this winter."
Shorrock is, nevertheless, well aware of the fact that more hard work on the test tracks and in the development departments is required in order to continue to achieve future success. "Of course, we are taking nothing for granted," he confirms.
