Formula One’’s Silverstone-based outfit, Aston Martin has announced that it has added its largest group of undergraduate students to its 2024 placement programme.

33 students will join the team by the end of September – nearly double last year – in a variety of roles including engineering and performance, as well as in IT and across Aston Martin Performance Technologies (AMPT) for the first time.

Aside from competing on track, a key focus for Aston Martin Aramco is inspiring and attracting the next generation to careers in STEM and motorsport.

The team's undergraduate programmes are designed for students who are completing a university degree, allowing them to take a 12-13-month placement as part of their studies. The programme aims to supplement their academic studies with hands-on work experience, developing knowledge and equipping them with skills required for future careers.

The undergraduate programme underlines “Aston Martin Aramco's investment in the future, nurturing an all-important talent pipeline to assist the team to achieve its goals, both on and off the track. The students will be based in the team's state-of-the-art AMR Technology Campus in Silverstone.”

11 graduates have also joined Aston Martin Aramco this year, bringing the total number of students who have begun their careers with the team this year to an all-time high.

Commenting on the announcement, Aston Martin’s Chief People Officer, Sophie Ackland said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming our latest intake of placement students to the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team.

“While the programme is still in its infancy, it's incredibly positive that the number of students joining us has grown, and we're seeing interest from diverse backgrounds and international talent. We enjoy seeing the enthusiasm they bring to the Technology Campus and their fresh perspective always adds value and helps achieve our goals on and off track.

"As we continue to make a mark by inspiring young people to pursue opportunities in motorsport and Formula One, we hope the experience and guidance we offer will have lasting impact on their future careers."

Abbie Wallace, Placement Student, noted "I am a second-year student studying Engineering at Cambridge University. I decided to do a placement year to aid my studies and get some real-world experience.

“I'll be working in the strategy team, something I'm really looking forward to learning more about. I've always been passionate about motorsport and hope one day to pursue a career in the industry, so I'm very excited for the coming year."
