Both race drivers at work for Renault
Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella continued the testing programme of the Renault F1 Team today at Silverstone. Better weather conditions enabled the team to complete today an important development programme on both cars.
The Renault drivers worked on set-up changes this morning and focused on tyre development with our partner Michelin during the afternoon. The team was happy with its work in spite of small mechanical problems that occurred at the end of the day and believes that promising set-up directions have been found in preparation for the British Grand Prix in June. “ The weather conditions were much better today.,” commented Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk. “We obtained good results and the drivers were very pleased with the car and its behaviour. We will continue our programme tomorrow for our last day at Silverstone”.
As the circuit closed this evening, the two Renault s at the top of the timesheets. Fernando set the quickest lap-time in 1:18.634 just ahead of his team-mate in 1:18.972.
Heikki Kovalainen will continue the testing programme tomorrow with Fisico for the final day of running in Silverstone.
