Massively pissed off!!
Christian Klien’s command of colloquial English is definitely improving as you can tell from his quote shown above, which he came out with when his qualifying session failed to get past the first 15 minute section. It was a confusing day to say the least, because the timing system crashed during the session, that provoked the Red Flag signal to stop the session.
By the time the clerk of the course had sorted out the mess, the Austrian had another shot at doing a quick lap, but got himself stuck behind Takuma Sato in the Super Aguri, which was not Super Agile at getting out of the way. After the session, Klien and team manager Jonathon Wheatley were called before the Stewards to see if they wanted to take the matter further but, given that lodging a protest against the Japanese driver would not have changed Christian’s grid position, they declined, or should that be deKliened!
It was standing room only at the Stewards this afternoon, because apart from our man and Sato, Giancarlo Fisichella and Jacques Villeneuve were also there and it looked as though things might have got nasty. The Italian felt the Canadian had deliberately blocked him on his fast lap and while the session was still on, “Fisico” had to be held back as he stormed into the BMW garage to give the Canadian a piece of his mind.
None of this mattered to heavy hitters at the front of the field, with championship leader Fernando Alonso taking pole ahead of Michael Schumacher. After talk of McLaren, Honda and Williams all being in with a chance of winning races, at the moment it looks more like a straight fight between Renault and Ferrari, with Felipe Massa in the other Prancing Horse car in third spot, while the Barrichello revival continues as “Rubinho” makes it an all-Brazilian second row in his Honda.
