Details make the difference between victory and defeat - Schumi
In the balance; this is perhaps how this year's race for the world title can be described. Michael's win in his home race at Nuerburgring was matched by Fernando Alonso at Barcelona. On each occasion the direct adversary came in second. Balanced is also the right term to sum up Michael's state of mind as he goes for his seventh title.
"I could accept Sunday's result though I did expect more from this race", declared the record breaking driver. "But once again, this is sport and sometimes things go differently to the way you think. This is the usual way of things; this is the great thing about the battle".
Michael did not know the reason why the Ferrari's did not live up to expectations this weekend. Too little time has passed for the data to be analysed. However, Michael knows that Ferrari has smoothly come back into contention and is able to compete with last year's champions.
In any case, Michael Schumacher is objective: "Many have said that the title race is between myself and Alonso but I do not want to discuss it. It is too early to make predictions. Things change very quickly in F1 and so I am cautious. Ultimately, this debate is secondary. The important thing is that we perform well in each race. As we saw at Barcelona, the details can affect the outcome".
In the next race at Monaco the same is expected and Michael will be testing again this week. He will arrive at Maranello tomorrow and will work on improving the car on Wednesday and Thursday. "We have already seen how crucial constant improvement is. Now we will work tirelessly on the latest data. We are in the title race and we will certainly not be giving in".
