In a good team you can go to the limit - JV

This season, Jacques Villeneuve has been a reliable collector of points for the BMW Sauber F1 Team. He has shown consistently strong performances and silenced all critics, who doubted his abilities last year.

According to Jacques, this positive development has a lot to do with the support he receives from the BMW Sauber F1 Team. "These things happen when you have a good time behind you," confirms Jacques Villeneuve. "You can concentrate on yourself and go to your personal limit. We have worked hard on the car and the set-up suits my style of driving far more than last year's."

The 1997 World Champion benefits from these improvements particularly in the qualifying sessions. "Particularly in qualifying, it's possible to go much closer to the limit now," Jacques explains. He can test the limit of his driving abilities and is, at the same time, not required to risk too much. "The cars are very stable. In other words, you can drive far more aggresively, brake later, slightly drift to the side and still be very fast."

The new V8 engines have increased the speed in the corners more than anywhere else. Additionally, Jacques now feels very comfortable in the BMW Sauber F1.06. "Now I can say to myself: I have to be faster in this or that corner. It is amazing how it's always possible to be a little bit faster. That's what is really fun."
