There is no space for any mistakes - Kubica

On Thursday, preparations for the Monaco Grand Prix will commence with the first and second free practice sessions. For Robert Kubica, the test and reserve driver of the BMW Sauber F1 Team, performing in the Principality of Monaco is something very special.

The Monaco Grand Prix takes place in the narrow streets of Monte Carlo. Manhole covers, crash barriers and countless bumps in the surface pose a particular challenge for the drivers. But Robert is looking forward to the seventh race of the Formula One season. "Monaco will be something special for me because this is my first time on a street circuit with a Formula One car," Kubica says. "I like street circuits, though, and in the past I have performed really well in places like Monaco and Mascau."

The 'Circuit de la Principauté' is the shortest track on the Formula One calendar. The drivers are required to race for 78 laps, more than during any other Grand Prix. "It is a really difficult track and there is no space for any mistakes," Robert admits. "But it is the same for everybody."

On Friday, the engines traditionally remain silent in Monaco. Therefore, the first two free practice sessions are already held on Thursday. "This will not be easy as the track will have very little grip," the 21-year-old expects. "But I hope I'll be able to help my two team mates a bit."
