Special ‘England’ helmet for Button
With two of the biggest sporting events of the summer taking place this weekend, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and the start of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, Honda Racing F1 Team driver Jenson Button will be wearing a special ‘England’ helmet to show his support for the England football team.
Jenson’s race helmet livery has been redesigned for the British Grand Prix to incorporate the red and white cross of St George with the word ‘England’ emblazoned through the cross.
Jenson will wear this unique design throughout the Silverstone race weekend as he joins the rest of the country in cheering on the England football team, who kick off their World Cup campaign against Paraguay on Saturday. The match will be shown live on big screens to thousands of F1 fans at the Silverstone circuit after Qualifying finishes on Saturday afternoon.
Jenson Button commented, “It’s a very big weekend for British sport and this is my way of demonstrating my support for the England football team. I’ve met a few of the players and it’s a great team they have in place. I wish them the very best of luck in the World Cup and I’ll certainly be cheering them on.”
