Schumacher still cautious after US win

The gap is down to 19 points, but Michael Schumacher remains cautious about his chances of passing Fernando Alonso in the World Championship. "This has been a fantastic weekend for us," said Schumacher after taking his fifth win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday. "The gap to our rivals was bigger than we expected and I'm just happy for everyone in the team because the amount of work that people have put in has been incredible.

"As for the championship, we must take each race as it comes. The gap is still 19 points, which is a lot, and all we can do is win as many races as we can and see where that gets us at the end of the year."

Ferrari have won six of the seven Grands Prix staged at the Brickyard since 2000, and the Scuderia has been quick to praise Bridgestone for their contribution in those victories.

"The Bridgestone tyres were perfect," said technical director Ross Brawn on Sunday. "They always give us a very good tyre here, and that might have something to do with Bridgestone sharing Firestone's tyre data from the Indy 500. The asphalt here is unique; it's very smooth and you can't have too much data."

Ferrari is testing some aerodynamic modifications this week, prior to the French Grand Prix on 16 July.
