Experience calms Heidfeld down
Nick Heidfeld knows how demanding it is to compete at the highest level in Formula One, racing and testing week after week. However, the work ethic of the 29-year-old has changed during the course of his 115 Grands Prix.
Nick has already completed seven seasons at the pinnacle of motorsports. This makes him one of the most experienced dirvers on the grid. Initially, however, the German was also forced to settle in and was full of respect. "My general approach towards Formula One racing has definitely become cooler," says Heidfeld. "When you're new in Formula One, there is no denying that you feel a certain degree of awe."
As in any other racing series, in the highest category of motorsports the unconditional dedication of the driver on the track, as well as in cooperation with the team is taken for granted. Nick is still ambitious, but he has also discovered the danger of over determination.
"I don't stay in the paddock quite as long as I used to," admits Nick. "While I am still one of the last drivers to leave, I often used to dwell on the telemetry data until midnight. After a while, however, you fail to see the forest for the trees and you get too little sleep."
