You've got to be quick everywhere - Kubica
Despite the 2007 Formula One calendar featuring two new venues, BMW Sauber F1 Team driver Robert Kubica is calm and serene when it comes to the new season. After all, the situation is the same for everyone, says the Pole.
The 2007 Formula One Calendar comprises 17 races instead of the 18 rounds the drivers had to contest in 2006. While the race at Imola, Italy, was cancelled without any replacement and the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring circuits will alternate on an annual basis, two well known Formula One circuits are to make their comeback at the pinnacle of motor racing this year: Spa-Francorchamps and Fuji. While Fuji replaces Suzuka as venue of the Japanese GP after a 20-year break, thus being virgin soil for the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers, Spa-Francorchamps is back after just one year. For Robert Kubica, Suzuka is the most memorable of the three venues not on this year's calendar. "Suzuka was extremely challenging and I was glad to have the chance of contesting a race there," Kubica admits.
Nonetheless, the Pole isn't going to really miss the three circuits: "To be honest, I can't claim to be truly missing one of the venues. Furthermore, everybody has to cope with the same situation. And no matter if racing at the Hockenheimring or the Nürburgring - it's always about the same number of points." A point of view that doesn't come as a surprise if you know Robert's personal maxim: "You've got to be quick everywhere."
