Race experience counts!
With Sebastian Vettel and Timo Glock, the BMW Sauber F1 Team presents two young drivers to do the testing for the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship. Both drivers will, however, continue to race in other formulae in order to gain further experience.
Following his strong 2006 debut season, Sebastian will once again participate in the Friday practice sessions during race weekends for the BMW Sauber F1 Team, while Timo will support the team during testing programmes outside of GP events. Both youngsters are determined to gather as much knowledge as possible during testing. For a young driver, however, it is also important to gain additional experience in race situations.
For this reason, Sebastian will enter the World Series by Renault. This series for young talents only coincides with the Formula One schedule on one occassion, so Sebastian can fully concentrate on his work for the BMW Sauber F1 Team at Grand Prix events. In 2005, Robert Kubica learned that the World Series is a highly recognised stage for young and gifted drivers. The Polish driver was able to win the title and today he is one of the BMW Sauber F1 Team's GP drivers.
Timo will once again participate in the GP2 series, in which he finished fourth overall in 2006. Following a difficult start to the year, Timo moved to the British Team iSport and celebrated two race wins. In 2007, he is determined to compete for the title. The GP2 series is held as a part of the Formula One support programme, thereby giving Timo the opportunity to become familiar with the processes within the BMW Sauber F1 Team over the course of race weekends.
