F1 engines to roar again at Bahrain

By on

Only one week after the Malaysian Grand Prix, the F1 teams will be fighting for victory and championship points in the desert during the Bahrain Grand Prix. Who has the biggest chance to win this weekend? F1technical lines up the candidates:

The favourites for triumph at Sakhir are Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. After his victory at Malaysia, Fernando Alonso is chasing his second consecutive win at Bahrain. Kimi Raikkonen, the winner of the season-opener at Melbourne, and team mate Felipe Massa will undoubtedly be fighting for victory as it slipped through their fingers last week after putting down a fantastic result during the qualifying session. But we can't of course forget about the outsiders!

Lewis Hamilton and Nick Heidfeld have shown that they are the most dangerous rivals for our three titans. Rookie Hamilton made a dream debut as he finished 3rd during the opening race of the 2007 season and crossed the finish line in 2nd place last week during round two of the Championship. Will the young Briton be able to bring in his first victory during his third Grand Prix?

Nick Heidfeld and the BMW Sauber F1 Team have showed their pace during winter testing, but also during the Australian and Malaysian Grand Prix as 'Quick Nick' finished both races in 4th place. During winter testing at the Bahrain International Circuit, the venue of the upcoming Bahrain GP, Heidfeld clocked the fastest lap and with this, he can be considered as one of the drivers that will battle for victory this Sunday.

Interesting to know might be that Rubens Barrichello, Robert Kubica, David Coulthard, Alex Wurz and Christijan Albers will be the only drivers to race with the same engine they used at Malaysia.

Considering the previous races, there are, in my opinion, only 5 candidates for victory at Bahrain. Let's see who will be on the highest scaffold on Sunday.
