A surprise can happen at any time - Sauber

According to Peter Sauber, Robert Kubica's second season as BMW Sauber F1 Team driver will be an important one for the Pole. The Swiss believes that Robert has the potential to secure GP wins in the future, just like Nick Heidfeld.

Robert has already celebrated a podium finish with the BMW Sauber F1 Team. In the 2006 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the then 21-year old was the first Pole ever to finish third in a Formula One GP. That's one of the reasons why Peter Sauber is convinced of the young-gun's abilities, He says: "No doubt, Robert is an outstanding talent. His second season will be crucial for his career."

At the same time, Sauber is convinced that Nick is also going to put in a strong performance in 2007. "Nick is a sly old dog, and if often underestimated," he says. "I think that he has not yet achieved the peak of his skills and will be able to raise his game even higher. I am loath to tie myself down when it comes to predicting which of our drivers will be the one to secure our maiden GP win." Nick's results, secured in the two rounds contested so far this season - he finished fourth in both the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix - prove Sauber to be right in his assessment.

For the former Team Principal, it's obvious that the BMW Sauber F1 Team has made a massive step forward in 2007. However, Sauber warns against getting too euphoric, following the successful start to the season. "This year, we won't be able to win by our own means. Obviously, a surprise can happen at any time - but these surprises can be both positive and negative."
