Q+A Jacques Villeneuve
It has been a while since we've heard of former Formula One Champion, Jacques Villeneuve. The Canadian gave an interview with jv-world to talk about his music, motor racing, married life and baby Jules.
"The reaction has been very positive from the public. There was some negative media around release which did not help, but since then it's been going well."
Are there any further developments for your music projects?"The plan is to make the album physically available in other countries (other than Canada) and we are working hard on France / Central Europe and Asia at the moment. It has been available digitally worldwide from the start. People can also get the actual album via Canadian websites who can send it anywhere in the world."
Peugeot just won the first of the Le Mans series races with the car that you'll be driving later in the season for the 24hour race. They took third too and set the fastest lap time. That's a pretty good start. Does this make you feel confident for that race and your chances of doing well against the rest of the field?"The car is competitive which is great. Now we need to make sure it is competitive for a whole 24h."
Who do you think the main challengers will be at Le Mans this year? Anyone specific to watch out for?"I guess the guys who have won it for the last few years! Also we won't go up against the Audis until that actual weekend."
At the Formula One race in Bahrain this weekend we saw Heidfeld battling with current world champion Fernando Alonso for 4th place and also Robert Kubica, who replaced you at BMW, also fighting for yet more points just behind. Does this make you wish you were still there, driving for a now competitive team? Do you feel that you'd be doing better than Kubica for BMW?"They seem to be doing well which makes me happy for the guys who work hard in there. As far as I am concerned, I turned the page so I don't dwell on whether I would be quicker or not."
We keep hearing that you're looking for a NASCAR drive. Why is it taking so long?"Because we have the time to do it properly so there is no point in rushing!"
What are the chances that you'll drive at the Busch series race in your home town of Montreal this summer?"That will depend on what the sponsors want once we have the whole thing setup. Obviously I'd like to do a home race but, as I said, it's more important to take the time to set things up properly."
How's married life and fatherhood treating you?"It's the best thing that ever happened to me. I did not know it could be so fulfilling!"
And finally, how's baby Jules?"He is great! Thanks."
