I've always been crazy for motor racing - Glock

Timo Glock caught the motor racing bug early in his childhood. The BMW Sauber F1 Team test driver and GP2 racer talks about his first experience of Formula One and reveals that being a spectator isn't a role he likes to play.

"I have always been crazy for motor racing," says Timo Glock. "But I have to admit that I didn't follow Formula One a lot in my childhood. My father watched the races on TV - and I sat next to him. That was that." But the years went by and the youngster started to focus more and more on the pinnacle of racing. In 2004, a dream came true for Timo when he contested his maiden Formula One Grand Prix, finishing seventh at Montreal, Canada.

Surprisingly, Timo travels to circuits all around the world only when involved in the race action. "I never witnessed a Formula One race from the grandstands," the German admits. "And if I'm not mistaken I've only made one private trip to a race track, so far: on the occasion of a Formula 3 race at the Hockenheimring. This was the only event I attended without being involved as driver."

In 2007, Timo supports the BMW Sauber F1 Team as test driver while also trying to secure the GP2 title. By delivering in fine style he wants to lay a foundation allowing him to eventually emulate his role models. "For me, Ayrton Senna was the type of racing driver who offered you the chance to learn simply by watching him," says Timo. "I own several DVDs of him. And obviously, Michael Schumacher is also one of my role models."
