Heidfeld aims podium finish

Having secured three consecutive fourth places in the first three rounds of the 2007 Formula One season, Nick Heidfeld is ready for the next step. The German, who celebrated his 30 th birthday on Thursday, hopes for a podium finish in the Spanish Grand Prix - as delayed birthday present.

"To date, our season has been better than expected," says Heidfeld. "There are still two teams ahead of us - that means four cars, in a perfect world. However, we succeeded in clinching three fourth places, which represents the optimum result for us." Nonetheless, Nick isn't ready to settle for finishing fourth. "I think we should have a shot at a podium finish," he says.

In the past three races, the BMW Sauber F1 Team represented the 'third power' behind Ferrari and McLaren - and was clearly quicker than Renault, it's closest rival in the Constructors' Championship. At the same time, Nick is of the opinion that it remains unrealistic to hope for BMW Sauber F1 Team wins secured by its own means. On the other hand, he says: "There have been some crazy races in Formula One. Therefore, a win could be possible."
