Vettel to replace Kubica at Indianapolis

By on

Sebastian Vettel, the BMW Sauber F1 Team test driver, will take over from Robert Kubica during the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis. Kubica had a heavy crash last weekend at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit at Montreal. The FIA doctors didn't give the young Pole the green light to race, so Kubica will fly home instead of staying to watch the race from the sideline. Before the French Grand Prix, he will be checked by the FIA doctors again.

Kubica, who hoped to race at 'Indy', said: "I am disappointed especially as I feel so good."

It will be Sebastian Vettel's first Grand Prix race after he made his F1 debut last year as Friday driver of the BMW Sauber F1 Team.
