Alonso fastest during first practice at Indianapolis
During the first free practice session of the US Grand Prix weekend at Indianapolis, McLaren and BMW again showed their pace. Double World Champion, Fernando Alonso, clocked the fastest time, followed by Nick Heidfeld and Lewis Hamilton.
Sebastian Vettel replaces Robert Kubica, who had a serious crash last week at Canada. After acting as Friday driver for BMW Sauber F1 last year, it will be the first F1 race for the German. Vettel clocked the 4th fastest time and was faster than both Ferrari's.
Just like last week, Nakajima, the test and reserve driver of the AT&T Williams Team came in action during the first free practice session while Alex Wurz had to watch from the sideline. Nakajima does a good job on Friday, the youngster clocked the 12th time.
After the first free practice session, it appears that Ferrari is still searching for pace. Kimi Raikkonen was 5th as team mate Felipe Massa was 7th.
