Ferrari duo remains on top

F1 Grand Prix, GP France, Circuit Nevers Magny-Cours

During the second free practice session of the French Grand Prix, Ferrari remained on top. Felipe Massa was faster than team mate Kimi Raikkonen. Scott Speed surprisingly clocked the third fastest time. While Lewis Hamilton was 4th and team mate Fernando Alonso 8th.

The surprise of this afternoon was to see both Scuderia Toro Rosso in the top 5. Scott Speed clocked the third fastest time while team mate Vitatonio Liuzzi was fifth. Again, the Ferrari duo was on top of the timesheets ahead of their biggest rivals, McLaren.

Lewis Hamilton, who suffered a problem during this morning's free practice session clocked the fourth time, while team mate Alonso was only 8th. It appears that this weekend Ferrari will have the upper-hand over the silver duo.

David Coulthard was again on a roll as he was 6th fastest while team mate Mark Webber was only 16th. With 40 minutes to go in the session, the Australian proved that Red Bull still has reliability problems as he suffered a transmission-related problem.

Both Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen went off, but without any damage.

Nick Heidfeld again suffered from pain in his back and was forced to step out his car.

Spyker's Christijan Albers only covered 9 laps before damaging his car in an off-track excursion. Anthony Davidson had to come in to the garage to replace his front wing after a small collision with the Toro Rosso of Tonio Liuzzi.
